All Things Healthy!

Since Lee had a brain tumor, I started on a quest to look more closely at ingredients. I wanted to live as non-toxic as possible. While I haven’t changed everything, I have started with some amazing products. I have many friends that often ask for links or information on the items I use. So, here is a list!

1. Live Healthillie

This site is a one-stop shop for your non-toxic essentials. Each item they sell has been carefully vetted to be clean and trustworthy.

2. Paleovalley

I am obsessed with their products - so much so that I subscribe monthly to their bone broth protein powder (I like caramel that I add to coffee) and 100% grass fed beef sticks (my favorite is venison).  “Paleovalley stands out by committing to genuine, whole-food ingredients that support your health as nature intended. We prioritize quality over cost, ensuring our products are organic and free from unnecessary additives.”

3. Hooga

Red light therapy enhances skin health and boosts cellular energy. I love using my red light therapy for 15 minutes every night before I go so sleep.

4. Cymbiotika

Cymbiotika sells many different supplements. I like their hydrogen water tablets, Irish Sea Moss, and Shilajit.

5. A’dele Natural Cosmetics

Women, stop putting toxins on your face. This company is family owned and operated in Texas. “ Our goal is to support small, sustainable farms and suppliers, with a focus on sourcing as many ingredients as possible from the U.S.A. We believe in the power of locally-grown, organic ingredients and strive to build strong relationships with farmers who share our values of sustainability and ethical practices. We take pride in being 100% transparent about what goes into each of our products, providing clear, honest ingredient lists so our customers can trust exactly what they are putting on their skin.”

6. Vanman

Vanman has several tallow based products. I like the pearl/tallow eye cream.

7. Cozy Earth

I first learned about Cozy Earth listening to Culture Apothecary. I admit, I was skeptical that the sheets were THAT good, but finally bought some because I needed new sheets. Oh my goodness. They are simply the coziest sheets EVER! Truly - next time you get sheets, try these out. I loved them so much, I now buy their lounge wear and even socks.  Made from bamboo, they are temperature regulating. Love!

8. Better Way (Toilet Paper)

Does toilet paper matter? YES! Straight from Google:

Key Health Concerns

PFAS ("Forever Chemicals"): Used for water/stain resistance, PFAS are found in many toilet papers, entering wastewater and potentially the body.

Health Links: Associated with fertility issues, high cholesterol, immune system changes, liver/kidney disease, and cancers.

Exposure: While food and water are main sources, direct skin contact with toilet paper is a potential route, and these chemicals are nearly indestructible.

Other Chemicals: Studies detect phthalates and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in toilet paper, linked to elevated cancer risks.

Think about how many times a day you use toilet paper (and paper towels!). Use Better Way.

It is 100% bamboo, non-bleached, and plastic free.

9. Branch Basics

Google cleaning supplies and you will find that most cleaning supplies are toxic. Vinegar and water is a great way to clean. However, if you don’t like the smell, try Branch Basics. A little goes a LONG way! I tossed out ALL my cleaning supplies and use only vinegar/water or Branch Basics - for everything…my floor, counters, sink, bathroom, dishwasher…all of it!

10. Zebra

Yay Zebra is a company I trust for deodorant and toothpaste. (However, I now found a recipe where I make my own deodorant and use it instead!). JennThatcher is the founder of Zebra. Her son’s diagnosis of a brain tumor caused her to start looking more closely at ingredient labels . Zebra is made in the USA, non-toxic, black and white ingredients!

11. Pact

Finally, make sure clothes are non-toxic! Pact sells 100% organic cotton.

12. Pluck

Try this seasoning made from 100% grass fed beef organs, organic herbs and spices, and Redmonds salt. It is a great way to get beef organs without cooking them and it tastes like herbs and spices! I use every morning on my egg/Swiss chard/carrot dish.

13. Elham’s Liquid Gold

Believe it or not, I use castor oil on my face. I found this company - organic, hexane-free, cold pressed. Castor oil has so many uses (look it up!) but my favorite is to use on my face at night and legs in the morning.

14. Primally Pure

Bethany McDaniel started Primal Pastures - a regenerative, organic farm in Southern California. She searched and searched for non-toxic, organic skincare and decided to create her own products. “ From farms, forests and fields, we thoughtfully source ingredients grown with integrity that are regenerative, organic and wildcrafted whenever possible. Nature knows best and has given us everything we need – no chemicals, fragrances or fillers needed.”

15. Primal Pastures

I try not to buy meat at the grocery store. I want to make sure what I put in my body is organic and pure. “100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Raised on pristine pasture with constant rotation. Never given hormones, antibiotics, or grain. Able to express natural behaviors in stress-free environments.” The way meat should be! Their chicken and pork: “100% soy-free diet (even organic standards allow soy)
Truly raised on pasture, not just ‘access to outdoors’. No antibiotics, vaccines, or conventional treatments.”

16. True Leaf Market

I love eating sprouts but they can be a bit expensive. So, I decided to try sprouting and it is SO easy! I purchasing a sprouting jar from True Leaf Market and buy their seeds. In about 3-5 days, I have sprouts!

17. Lineage Provisions

I like the beef sticks with heart and liver. Tasty … but I must tell you, a bit tough on the teeth!

18. Azure Standard

Azure Standard started 40 years ago as a farm. They sold their grains and local products to others and eventually it grew. Recognizing the need for organic products, they created their first sales flyer in 1986. They now have a warehouse, and a drop-to-home delivery which is what I use. You place an order and it arrives on a truck once a month. Everyone helps unload so it cuts out the middle man.

19. Jaspr

This amazing air scrubber cleans the air in your home by filtering 99% of the toxins and mold from the air. “The Jaspr was designed to combine the effectiveness of commercial air scrubbers used for mold and wildfires and make a quiet, sleek model for the home or office. “

Life Reset

Most of you who know me well, know that I try to live a healthy lifestyle. Recently, my mom and I drove to Texas to visit my son and we listened to podcasts - specifically Culture Apothecary. I love it! So much information. Now, I’m on a mission to make my life even more healthy. Perhaps some of it stems from watching Lee die from Glioblastoma. I am pretty convinced that he developed the tumor from exposure to chemicals during his job, or cell phone use. I will never know for sure - but according to all I’ve read, chemical exposure is definitely high on the list. Here are some things I’ve tried to implement lately: 1. Cutting out toxins. Do you know HOW hard it is to cut toxins from your environment? Almost impossible…they are everywhere…my rugs, furniture, cleaning supplies, food, toilet paper, paper towels, makeup and clothing. I could go on. I know I can’t cut all of them out, but I am trying to make a dent. I swapped my toilet paper (which is toxic, by the way) for bamboo paper, p...

Healthy Healing

It has been over 4 years now, going on 5, since Lee’s death. Since then, I have started my own healing journey. At first it was spiritual healing and focusing on my relationship with God. Then, it was emotional healing. Now, I am onto my physical healing journey. So, my blog will take a turn - focusing on what I am doing to keep ALL of me healthy - and hopefully you, too. One thing I won’t do is use AI. So, my writing won’t always be the best. I usually just type and press publish. It won’t be perfect, but it will be human. As I contemplated Lee’s death, I always wondered “why” Lee got glioblastoma. Of course, I won’t have the answer in this lifetime, but after years of research and reading, I have several thoughts: Cell phone use (it was on the right side of his head, where he held his phone) Toxins (as a carpenter he was exposed to SO many dangerous chemicals Environment (for Lee, he lacked a healthy sleep pattern) and Circadian Rhythm Diet In my health journey, I started with these ...
