Have you ever drifted off in a canoe? I have a hilarious memory of my mom and I in a canoe going down the Platte river in Nebraska. We both did not understand how to steer the boat and we constantly found ourselves turning around or running into the sand because the river was low at certain spots.  My son, Brett, use to live at a home where there was a quaint pond and we would just quietly drift - even though we couldn’t go more than a stone’s length!

Have you ever noticed what happens when you drift? The water takes you wherever it is flowing. If you’re not paying attention, you’ll soon find yourself far from your starting point and away from your destination.

Do you ever find yourself drifting in life? Perhaps you log into social media and you find yourself hours later in a different destination with no real purpose. Or maybe, like me, your thoughts drift. I have to purposefully try to stay on task because my mind loves drifting away and thinking about other things. Or maybe you have drifted away from God. Maybe you grew up in church, learned about Him, but as an adult you turned your boat and have slowly moved away from Him.

It’s easy to get back on track when you are drifting. Turn the boat toward the destination and row. It takes intention.

Intention

As you go through the grieving process, it’s easy to drift. Let’s face it, Grief takes energy, and sometimes we just get plain tired. So we drift. We drift down memory lane, the horrors of the accident or death, fears for the future, and the boat gets caught in the muck and mire of the slog. Be intent about thoughts. Turn the boat around, and row back to safer waters. Be intentional about keeping your thoughts positive (though you may not feel like it), loving others, and staying hopeful for the future. For me, this is turning my boat back around to God. Then, giving Him the oars, laying back, and trusting Him to steer me to the next spot in life.

All Things Healthy!

Since Lee had a brain tumor, I started on a quest to look more closely at ingredients. I wanted to live as non-toxic as possible. While I haven’t changed everything, I have started with some amazing products. I have many friends that often ask for links or information on the items I use. So, here is a list! 1. Live Healthillie This site is a one-stop shop for your non-toxic essentials. Each item they sell has been carefully vetted to be clean and trustworthy. 2. Paleovalley I am obsessed with their products - so much so that I subscribe monthly to their bone broth protein powder (I like caramel that I add to coffee) and 100% grass fed beef sticks (my favorite is venison).  “Paleovalley stands out by committing to genuine, whole-food ingredients that support your health as nature intended. We prioritize quality over cost, ensuring our products are organic and free from unnecessary additives.” 3. Hooga Red light therapy enhances skin health and boosts cellular energy. I love u...

Life Reset

Most of you who know me well, know that I try to live a healthy lifestyle. Recently, my mom and I drove to Texas to visit my son and we listened to podcasts - specifically Culture Apothecary. I love it! So much information. Now, I’m on a mission to make my life even more healthy. Perhaps some of it stems from watching Lee die from Glioblastoma. I am pretty convinced that he developed the tumor from exposure to chemicals during his job, or cell phone use. I will never know for sure - but according to all I’ve read, chemical exposure is definitely high on the list. Here are some things I’ve tried to implement lately: 1. Cutting out toxins. Do you know HOW hard it is to cut toxins from your environment? Almost impossible…they are everywhere…my rugs, furniture, cleaning supplies, food, toilet paper, paper towels, makeup and clothing. I could go on. I know I can’t cut all of them out, but I am trying to make a dent. I swapped my toilet paper (which is toxic, by the way) for bamboo paper, p...

Healthy Healing

It has been over 4 years now, going on 5, since Lee’s death. Since then, I have started my own healing journey. At first it was spiritual healing and focusing on my relationship with God. Then, it was emotional healing. Now, I am onto my physical healing journey. So, my blog will take a turn - focusing on what I am doing to keep ALL of me healthy - and hopefully you, too. One thing I won’t do is use AI. So, my writing won’t always be the best. I usually just type and press publish. It won’t be perfect, but it will be human. As I contemplated Lee’s death, I always wondered “why” Lee got glioblastoma. Of course, I won’t have the answer in this lifetime, but after years of research and reading, I have several thoughts: Cell phone use (it was on the right side of his head, where he held his phone) Toxins (as a carpenter he was exposed to SO many dangerous chemicals Environment (for Lee, he lacked a healthy sleep pattern) and Circadian Rhythm Diet In my health journey, I started with these ...
